Thomas Winter received his MD degree from Northwestern University Medical School in 1967. After four years of surgical training, including two years at the National Institutes of Health, he completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency at UCSF, and became board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He practiced radiology for 25 years in Santa Rosa, California. He attended Empire School of Law and passed the bar in 1990. Prior to becoming associated with Teal Montgomery & Henderson, he practiced medical malpractice defense law. He is currently licensed as both a physician and as an attorney.
